Welcome to the VHBPA web site

      The Virginia Horsemen's Benevolent and Protective Association (VHBPA) is a non-profit membership organization that represents thoroughbred owners and trainers who race at Colonial Downs. The VHBPA negotiates with the management and ownership of Colonial for race days, dates, and purses, and also provides educational, recreational, health, counseling, and religious programs for back stretch workers.   

    2013 Colonial Downs Race Meet: June 8th through July 13th, with racing Wednesday-Sunday. Post time is 6 p.m. except for a 1 p.m. Sunday post. Average daily purses projected to be $248,000, with overage overnite individual purses projected at $22,000.

     The stable area and track will open for stabling and training on May 25th. For a STALL APPLICATION (click here). Applications are due May 4, 2013.
